The Land of a Thousand Hills
For a visitor, it's very safe. I never got any sense of anything other than complete safety when I was there. But as you mentioned, the statistic is approximately a million people killed in a hundred days. So obviously that has left a legacy. In terms of visiting, they're definitely putting that behind them. And I can really recommend it as a place to visit.
