The Eliza effect is that people are only too quick to assert human-like attributes to software. The interface of chat GPT just sucks us in and then makes us make all sorts of mistakes conceptually and otherwise, he says. And so we can't actually interface with the software the way it's designed to work and then we get surprised and upset at things that it can't do.
