Air Pollution Causes Brain Damage

Air pollution is probably the chief vehicle of the kind of poisoning that causes profound cognitive effects. It's a very efficient way of getting a poison into the brain. Once it's there, you can't take it out. Asthma caused by air pollution is another. Bad asthma causes periods when you literally not breathing, oxygen is not getting to the brain. And if that happens to you over time, say you're a child living in a building across from a New York City bus depot, these hypoxic events are going to alone lower your cognition.
