Maracela vowed to remain in the plaza until Sergio Barraza was arrested. For days, Maracela sat in the plaza surrounded by posters and banners denouncing the lack of justice for her daughter. She then confronted Governor Duarte in front of the government palace. In response, a visibly annoyed Duarte invited Maracela to speak directly with the state attorney general.
