In 1987, Martinez had a population of around 24,000 people. The city is still small today, with just 15,000 households over 12 square miles. It sits in the East Bay region of San Francisco Bay along the southern shore of the Carcines Strait. On January 24th, 1987, nine-year-old Eric Coie visited his cousin Edric's house for the first time.
