The French government has introduced a 23 euro per magaat hour tax on all electricity sold. The aim is to pay for mainly replacing the cheap nuclear you already have with incon stent renewables from private companies, such as wind and solar farms. But critics say it will damage the system by driving up prices in favour of foreign firms who are more likely to emit greenhouse gases than locals.
