In a traditional language learning method, basically what you do is the teacher will teach words and phrases and grammar rules to the students. In Stephen Krashen's language, you acquire language when you are able to understand things that you read or that you hear. The basic principle behind a story-based approach is that you spend lots of time reading and listening to the language. And so over time, your brain simply gets used to the way that the grammar works.
