The Prerequisite Commitments of the Thinking Subject
St. Thomas presupposes certain commitments on the part of the reasoner to reality which to a 21st century individual may not be abundantly apparent especially if you're just immersed in empirical sciences. You could still arguably run any of Aquinas's arguments just with the starting point that okay what exists I know exists is myself as a ego but even if that's what I am and there's no external world it doesn't mean we can't make contact with it. And so that's one way to approach it you could say well okay so we got to do all this kind of epistemology first and then get to natural theology or for and it's to some extent depends on your audienceSome readers
