The Importance of Making a Decision
I wasn't good enough and math to study physics, so I took economics. That would have been a bad decision if I hadn't somehow stumbled on behavioral economics. My thesis advisor famously said to a New York Times reporter that as a graduate student, they didn't expect much of me. Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky gave me some hints in their work,. Had they not come along, I think I would have probably not ended up as an economist. Who knows what I would have done, but something else.
