You're Making Up for Generations of Systematic Disinvestment

I think that for me, when I was in school and he was in K through 12, you know, going to Central High School here in St. Paul, I failed to understand so much of what I came to see. What I saw as parents who were incredibly engaged who were working incredibly hard to give their children every single opportunity that they could. And yet, every single turn were encountering resistance on the part of the systems that were supposed to be serving them. We've built a country in which it's almost impossible to get ahead. You're making up for generations of systematic disinvestment. Not to mention poor parenting and drugs and all kinds of things, right?
