Israel is an interesting and quite unique for a liberal democracy in that it doesn't actually have a written constitution. They were going to write one, but they sort of never got around to it. The Israeli Supreme Court has taken more and more authority for itself to strike down acts of parliament. That power has largely been tacitly accepted by parliamentary leaders on both the left and right.
