Irish Nationalism
I'm not sure I totally buy this idea that Irish nationalism is all embracing open to all progressive and so on. And Irish nationalism can be just as exclusionary, divisive, and sectarian as any other forum counter. We're very smug about the fact that there is no far right party of any major size in Ireland at the moment. It doesn't mean fascism grows; it grows by the acceptance of the dehumanization of people who are not like you. The vast majority of Irish people would rather have a version of their national pride and of their national identity, which is democratic, which is open, which is pluralistic,. and based on human rights.
