The Phlogiston Theory
The phlogiston theory held that combustible resources contain phlogiston, a colorless, odorless, tasteless and massless substance. The fact that combustion soon ceased in an enclosed space was taken as clear cut evidence that air had the capacity to absorb only a definite amount of phlogistum. So there's this scientific theory from the, from the 17 hundreds that is patently absurd when you look at it through a modern, you know, contemporary, scientific lense of to day. And this idea of incommensurability is suggesting we shouldn't do that.
