The preferred beat structure in music is actually the same. It's 120 beats a minute, which is twice a second. The human brain seems to have converged on this as a natural time scale. And so you can use sophisticated equipment to measure that electrical signaling in the brain of a baby or a child or a grown up and see whether it's in time with whatever input you're giving that brain.
