The State Model of Economic Success in the US
I wish that we experimented with it more. I do wonder to what extent has this kind of state model been part of the reason why the US has been so successful economically? Does it provide a sort of way to decentralize the experiment that's actually really powerful? For example, with the pandemic, different states had significantly different rates of wearing masks. And I think we saw some interesting variation in how well different policies work.
