Only between 5% and 10% of people in different settings develop TB within the first two years of having been infected. People who are underweight or undernourished are two to three times as likely to develop active TB, given that they've been exposed. The risk of actually developing TB disease drops precipitously to its lowest point between ages of about four and 11.
