I had no idea how to make money as a podcast back then. So I actually got the idea for the business model from a socialist podcast. It's called Chappo Traphouse and they didn't have any ads. And what they would do is like they would make one episode. They give every other episode away for free. If you want to listen to every episode, you'd pay like five bucks a month.
