What's the Difference Between the Butchering Art and the Patient Voice?
In the nineteenth century, patients going into these hospitals were very poor. They weren't leaving behind written records that would really flush out what that experience was. A lot of times, if you were wealthy, or if you were middle class in the 19th century, you actually had your operation in your own home. So it's a very, very different experience. And i hope that readers will will feel that, you know, feel what that was like.
