Climate Change

Scientists don't set the target. What science can do is tell us something about the consequences of climate change, how much the climate will change for a given set of emissions and quantity. But scientists can't tell you the right target to aim for. That's inherently a political choice because it involves trade off between costs of cutting emissions and the cost of climate change has been distributed unequally over time and space.
