The Importance of Coherence
Coherence is what enables things at the bottom to actually come together into things that have an identity, meaning a meaningfulness as a unit. And we can be very concrete - if one of them gets old and infirm, the others stick around and support them. So I am not Roman, but there's something about Romanness that is helpful in me being able to have a way of being in relationship with the people around me. We're at a moment where it's no longer really an option of do we learn how to actually live peaceably with all of our neighbors,. because our capacity to destroy things has become larger and larger and larger every day.
