There are two cases pending before the US Supreme Court. They are styled Students for Fair Admissions versus Harvard and a similar case, Students for FairAdmission versus University of North Carolina. Most observers seem to think that the court will actually overturn previous judgments and deem it unconstitutional to consider race at all in university admissions. The man behind both of the biggest cases is called Edward Bloom. He's a conservative legal strategist who has devoted decades of his life to campaigning against affirmative action.
Edward Blum joins us to discuss affirmative action on the grounds of race, particularly with regard to the elite University and Colleges where it is currently a major part of the admission process.
