Are Autonomous Weapons Like That?
Autonomous weapons are untrustworthy and will never be confident enough that they can discriminate reliably between people who are soldiers and people who are civilians. In two thousand three there was, there was a friendly fire incident. A british fighter jet was heading back to a base in northern coat, and the jet flew in range of a Patriot anti missile system. That system identified the jet as an enemy missile and presented that information to humans on the ground. And it presented bad information to these people and a and they believed it, a and with tragic consequences. This is doctor jesse kirkpatrick, an assistant professor of philosophy at george mason university.
