The Location Problem With Color
The location problem is to think of a lot of language as being involved in categorization or classification. What does it take to be an essential the word yellow in English is to be something that typically looks yellow? The most attractive account of perceptual experiences is offered by representationalism. If you want representationism, perceptual experiences represent the things that are thus and so. And the phenomenal feel of perceptual experience is tied intimately to how it represents things to be. So when something looks square, don't think you're a mental state square. That's a big mistake.
