Is It a Functionless Argument?

Julian hadfield said that seemingly silly rules can actually play a useful role in making us more aware of social sanctions and such. A yen, i was wondering if you have like, a take on this, eitheron the research or on the point. I'm not sure. But one thing that i can say is, looking at children becaus when we study children, is amaze how they learn language. That's how our brains function. So is not that the simple rule, the stupid rule, will lead us then to obey the stronger rule, et cetera. We are rule ollowers, end of story.
