The Power of Engaging Your Story as a Parent

There is nothing you can do on behalf of your children more than engage your story. There's no way that I could have done what I did with Liam if I hadn't had part of my own story come to bear and grieving that. It took everything I had to not recreate a familial system. And it was actually quite shocking to feel like, Oh gosh, this is still hard, even though I know all the right things to do. You have to go deep into those buried places in order to really find resurrection and redemption. That is very counter cultural for us, especially within Christianity.
