In 1746, Captain William Henry Cranston met and fell in love with Mary Blandi. Her father was a wealthy lawyer who wanted to see her marry the young captain. But soon it became clear that he had already married someone else. He came up with a plan: She could make him fall in love again by using a powder on his food.
