The Simpsons and the Spinster and Her Enemy

I love the Simpsons, I think the Simpsons is a masterpiece. The way they regard sort of prudish middle aged women is very striking. There's an episode when someone sets up a burlesque club in Springfield and Marge and Helen Lovejoy and all the other kind of church ladies sort of gang together to shut it down because Bart who is ten has started working there. In the end there's a sort of big musical number which persuades them in the theories of their ways etc you know is the constant refrain the Simpsons of these ridiculous historical women.
