The Seven Sufferings of the Sword in Mary's Heart
Sophia: I've been praying a lot with the seven sorrows or the seven thrusts of the sword in Mary's heart. And it just struck me in thinking of Mary, the possibility of being pierced that she continually opens herself up to. She said yes at the enunciation because she longed for the fulfillment of what the Lord had promised to his people. So why is she portrayed in these beautiful paintings? It's been understood since time immemorial that she was longing more than anyone for the fulfilment of prophecies made in the Old Testament. Julie: Do you use the language of availability?
