Genes That Correlate With Behaviors in Humans
A group of outbred mice were put through behavioral tests to test their working memory. The idea is that this takes advantage of mouses' interest in exploration, but they also have to remember where they were before what the last arm they were in were. This sort of strategy of looking for genes that correlate with behaviors has previously been very difficult in mice because one, you needed many, many mice and they're expensive. And two, you needed this sort of easy behavior.
