The Counter to Cynicism

I don't think once you become cynical, I don't think you can ever get back that naive sincerity that you had as a child. The closest thing you can come to doing that is like having faith in God. You can only have so much faith in God if you come to God later in life. Once you've seen the other side of nihilism, once you've stared into the abyss and the abyss stared back, we are in the condition that Dostoevsky was talking about.
