The End of Oedipus the King
Sophocles' Oedipus the King was written in 429 BCE. The play is about a king who flees from Corinth after being told that his city will fall. John Sutter: It's not clear whether or not it drives home the idea of divine prophecy. He says there are other similar stories in Greek mythology where sons prophesied to kill fathers.
