The Factors That Are Most Important in Predicting Conflict in Africa

In any given year, 20% of african countries can be in some form of armed conflict. In the last forty years, over 80 % of countries have had at least one year of armed conflict - it's ubiquitous. So i'd like to pause and ask listeners to think about the factors that are most important in predicting where there will be conflict. I'm going to rattle off a few of the factors that come to my mind. And ted, i know you're an expert in this era. Tell me one by one whether, empirically, these different factors turn out to be important. Ok.
