The Power of the Analytical Method
The dream was unemotional, disconnected and unintelligible. But while i was producing the thoughts behind the dream, i was aware of intense and well founded, effective impulses. The thoughts themselves fell at once into logical chains in which certain central ideas made their appearance more than once. So central to the power of the method is recognizing the relevatory nature of this association. It's like the power of putting a puzzle together and having a picture come before you. And yes, so he engages in these promiscuous interpretations, but he thinks he's entitled to them, because he thinks that's the way the mind works.
