The Death Penalty: A Deterrent

I'm generally against torture. I'm generally against the death penalty. These are very debatable points. The idea that we don't know what they did, let's say we knew for sure that these guys burned a village, raped the women, killed the men, right? They were responsible for the death and murder and destruction of a village of 30 people. You could see, like even in modern times, maybe we still wouldn't do it, but then maybe it's more understandable.
