The right to bear arms has undergone a renaissance. Every single major change in gun policy over the last 30 years came from public opinion and pressure on politicians. The courts keep striking it down, despite the second amendment having been upheld as an individual right at the court. And yet gunrights have trundled on at the local and state level. That just says something profound, for better or for worse, about the american character.
