How Does a Neutron Star Decompose?
A neutron star is a giant collection of neutrons about ten kilometers across. It's the end state of stars a bit more massive than the sun. A strong nuclear force holds together individual pieces of the neutron star. The energy associated with that binding means that the total energy of the neutron is made lower.
