Apple is working on wireless communication where you can deliver lossless audio to air pods. Apple might start with air pods pro too, and air pods max,. And it would just be a prietary way, or maybe not proprietary, maybe they will allow other companies to use it. i had the suspicion that the home pod never got blue tooth because apple feared that the first thing everybody would do would be to set it up as a blue tooth speaker. But for airpods, i think it's more like apple music, where apple music goes so far as to have an android client.
