The Amazon Is a Threat to the World's Largest Tropical Forest
95% of all deforestation in the amazon is illegal, and this is a function of a lack of state presence. If we get to 20 % of that primary growth being taken down, we can expect to see something we call a die off. The world's largest tropical forest turns into its large savanna. It will affect global ocean currents, cloud cover, not just in south america but more broadly in the southern and even northern hemispheres. We are headed, dangerously closely, headed to this catastrophic diback scenario.
