In the old days, everyone always used metal halid lights for vedge and high pressure sodium for flowering. Now eli ds has passed up hih pressure sodium by quite a bit an efficiency. But it really isn't because the spectra is better. A lot o lights have 15, 20, even 25 % blue. And that's not an optimal spectrum through poto synthesisandn may keep the plants too short.
