The Silence of the Government in Censorship

The director of Summer Palace, low-year, was interviewed about how some parts of his work were deleted. He remarks that nobody in the government has said that tenement movement cannot be filmed. That's a wonderful perspective, and it really relates to the fuzzy orders of the censorship regime. It very much operates by unwritten rules,. And it's because of certain writers and filmmakers who, by making particular films, were writing a particular work. You could say even confirm or affirm the existence of these boundaries.
