The History of French Theory

French theory is a polyglot multicultural formation that, you know, it's core frequently not French in any simple manner. And the manners in which they defined their theory was almost not inevitably but with an awful lot of consistency directly or indirectly reference to problems of the French Empire and decolonization. So one thrust of the book is basically to see how what we tend to think of as particular national systems of thought American or French are actually at their roots global planetary and transnational.
