The Battle on Bhopal
More than 400 tons of industrial waste remain at the old Union Carbide Plant in Bhopal. The groundwater of 14 communities is completely contaminated, which has led to chronic health problems and birth defects. A stalemate exists between government agencies and Dow Chemical as to whose responsibility it is to clean it up. There's a story about a family being hacked to death with axes by their fellow villagers for being the first to find flowing water.
