Is There a Meta-Population in Ecology?
There is this thought experiment where you might settle the galaxy by sending little robotic probes that go to an asteroid unfold some solar panels, build up a robot. And then maybe robot nanis rear kids and you end up with a civilization taught with the values from the previous one. You would have encoded all the relevant stuff, including how to be a good nanny for your kids, etc. Which is non-trivial to say the least, but it's impossible to envision something like that. But there is another way, if a civilization has broken down on a continent, you can imagine the remaining civilizations surrounding it going over there and repairing things. We want to establish meta-populations
