When Strataveri and Guanari and Amarti were building these things, how were they experimenting in order to generate these violins that we now regard as the greatest ever made? If you look locally over many, many years, you start to see a pattern of increasing growth. With science we're able to work one piece at a time, but there's a whole range of frequencies in the violin... it's a large optimization problem.
