How Do You Signal to a Manager That They Don't Trust You?

When you signal to a manager or an or an elected representative, that you think they are untrustworthy or corrupt, i'm wondering, how do you think that changes the behavior of the people who are in charge? Well, i think that's exactly right. The signals go in both directions andt and it's very destructive. But i can also see this happening in the other direction. You know, when workers are suspicious that managers are trying to exploit them, they may try to get every single thing written out in a contract. When citizens are worried that politicians are corrupt, they come up with all kinds of mechanisms to constrain them....
