Cicero and clodius had a falling out of epic proportions. Clodius tried to break into the pontifex maximus' house, dressed as a woman. He was taken to court for sacrilege and attempted adultery. But he is eventually found innocent after cicero bribed him with money. And so it causes a rift between them that will never be healed.
