The Eiffel Tower

This week marks the 134th anniversary of the Eiffel tower being officially opened back in 1889. Design a Gustav Eiffel saw off competition to fill the space in Paris which is now best known for being where theEiffel tower is. Other proposed commissions were by architect Baker Balfons-Mondier his baguette du Cielle 450 meter high deliciously crispy loaf and philosopher Joanne Baptiste L'Héral-Mombier's literal thought bubble. The final departure point for unsuccessful wingsuit pioneer Franz Raikel who in 1912 splatted to his death off the famous metal megaprong.
