Christmas in the Victorian Period
Christmas had become seen as maybe a little bit lower class. One of the things that some historians think of as the tipping point was a tradition known as Calithumpian music. This was basically people out in the streets really drunk and just making an ungodly racket at all hours of the night around the Christmas time. Did not sit well with Victorian high society.
