The Problem With the Idea of Native Speaker

The idea of native speaker is a view of language as homogenous fixed, not changing static. It suggests that there's a correct way to speak, and an incorrect way to speak,. And so the bias is that if you're not a native speaker, and then what you're saying isn't correct or appropriate that that's somehow bad or less than. So when the native speaker is positive as this ideal speaker, the non native speaker is the deficient communicator.
