What Do We Mean by a Founding Father?
Thomas paine was from britain, so he was not colonial born and raised. He quickly became undeniably galvanizing force in the movement for independence. But as i said, he was british born, he never held any very high office in congress or the federal government. So all in all, paine might actually be the most crucial individual in securing an independent republic in america. Aside perhaps from george washingtoni, you know, on the military plane, it was washington. On the plane of political debate and ideas, no one had greater influence than thomas payne.
